i feel like i have to "GO" all the time!

i have always had this feeling like i had to go to the bathrooom (pee)

i guess my question is, how will my bladder be effected by the catheter (sp?). i had a lap. for endo a month ago and i think i'm still getting over that. they are going to take my cervix so i'm guessing the silly thing will shift in there.

how will i survive recovery if i'm constantly having to get up to go to the bathroom!!!

it's a stupid thing, but i'm dreading it!!!

Hi Charmed!

What medical condition do you have, that causes more-frequent-than-normal urination? I assume you have told your doctor about this.

i feel like i have to "GO" all the time!

I had to "go" a lot too before surgery.

The catheter stayed in until about 24 hrs after surgery, when they want you to get up and start walking anyway. Once it was out, getting in and out of bed to pee and walk was a nice break from laying there.

Could be that your uterus is pressing on your bladder causing you to need to go. That was my case. You'll be relieved once that pressure is gone!

i feel like i have to "GO" all the time!

I recently had a "Urodynamics" test for the same urge problem.I also can pee anytime, day or night.Every 1/2-1 hr...Ticks me off..Anyway,this test you do..You get there with a full bladder and wait in the waiting room for a decade. Then you (waist down) disrobe, yes the little gown/paper thingy.A "chair" is involved....The "chair" is too funny.Like a barber chair that can zoom up/down,tilt back. The seat is a horseshoe-open in the front--And the tech hooks you up with these sensor sticky pads inner thigh, around uranus ,and abdomen that hook into a computer that tells them what areas of your body you are using when you void. Then you void, they measure, then they cath to make sure you are empty-I thought I was done but I still had alot of pee in there and felt empty!Weird, then they introduce steril solution into bladder via cath and its a series of "how full does bladder feel now?""if you had to ,could you hold more?" and "how bout now?"bla,bla,bla..then they cath it out and fill it again, ask you to void,start/stop a couple times. This goes on for 3 cycles!!The whole time it is measuring input/output,urge,and what part of body you are using!Kind of cool but quite a bizarre test,I had to force myself NOT to laugh.Had a nice tech, she was very informative and made me feel totally comfortable about the whole thing.Bottom line is even with all the tests, untill they get in there they really dont KNOW exactly whats going on.Just thought id share...............

i feel like i have to "GO" all the time!

the second opinion guy did mention there was a test that could be done for the frequent urination issue. i'm guessing that was the test!!!

i think that my bladder is just one problem on top of all of the others.

I would definately look in to having Urodynamics done. I did it too. If there is a problem they can fix it while they are there doing the other. No need to go into surgery twice.

I agree,

I would get the test done also. It helped my doctor to know what the problem was before surgery.

Good Luck,

You will be glad you had the urodynamic testing if you need a bladder suspension with your hysterectomy. It will save you another surgery and more "gotta go" days!

I had stress and urge incontinence prior to my TAH and bladder suspension two weeks ago. I could go every hour and sometimes had to go back moments after voiding. I got tired of wearing a pad all the time. If I wasn't bleeding, I was leaking!

My GYN and urologist told me that my recovery might take a little longer with both surgeries and they left the catheter in 48 hours and kept the PCA pump that long as well, due to the double surgery. I didn't even notice the catheter, it was just nice not to have to worry about getting up to go to the bathroom the first 2 days.

I am SO pleased with both surgeries. I sneezed a few days after surgery and stayed dry for the first time in I don't know how long. I can go 3-4 hours before even feeling like I need to pee. My urologist warned me that not all suspensions cure the urge incontinence, but that 60% of women with fibroids that also have the uterus removed have complete resolution of the urge incontinence. So far, I am in the majority and very pleased!

The testing is a bit awkward and embarassing, but what isn't with this surgery anyway? I thought I had lost all sense of modesty when I had a baby...WRONG! I'm glad I did it just the same.

Good luck to you!
