tomorrow is the day...still feeling calm

Tomorrow morning I check into the hospital at 5:15 with a 7:30 surgery appointment. I still have not experienced any sense of panic, nerves or anxiety. I think I felt more that way a couple years ago when the subject of a hysterectomy was brought up. Maybe it's partially due to the fact that I really like and trust my gyno that I was "introduced" to at that time. Some of it is my personality...I just don't get hung up on things and let them bother me. And it is also because I have the comfort of my faith in the Lord.

This said, I'm sure tonight won't include a lot of sleeping. I haven't slept well the past few nights anyway but not because of the upcoming surgery. It'll probably be the heartburn bothering me and I'll probably be more "worried" about waking up/getting up in time....haha.

And even after reading the "horror" stories on here I'm not worried about recovery. It'll happen as it happens and I have a great husband who will take care of getting our mentally disable son to his adult daycare and his other needs that I won't be able to do. But I also don't have a job other than my son and babysitting our 3 year old grandson. But I'm also looking at that as not my problem...they may just have to make other arrangements for him and/or adjust their schedules so it works for me. I'm planning on 2 weeks off for sure and then maybe a few hours in the morning for awhile before "full time" again. Because everybody heals differently it's really hard to set a true time schedule. People just need to be flexible!

I hope this is an encouragement to others as I haven't found very many here who aren't nervous/worried. However, I'd just like to know I'm not alone in feeling this way.

Re: tomorrow is the day...still feeling calm

Glad you are at peace with the surgery and recovery. But remember, you are not going to need to pick up that grandson or do a lot of lifting or pulling/pushing for quite a while after surgery. Make sure to pamper yourself and take the time to heal.

Hope that all goes well!!

I was the same way. I had complete faith in God and my Dr. I also had so many people praying for me and my doctor that I could feel it. Prayers and Hugs!
