More questions than answers, confused!!

I am SO confused!! I was told about two months ago from my doctor that I need to start considering doing something more about my period issues I guess you could say. Have been told this before, but this was a new doctor who about a year ago said that a hysterectomy wasn't necessary. At the time, my life was in major turmoil so just tried another step up in birth control, maybe the last??, and was told to think about it. Now things have settled down some and have been researching things some here and other areas to prepare for another visit to my doctor after school is over for the summer. Have more questions than answers.

One of the procedures that was given as an option was the ablation. After research figured out that I might not even be a candidate as one of my issues has been hyperplasia and have read in some places it does not work well for that condition. Anyone with hyperplasia have done this procedure?? What's the point of thinking about it if not even really an option?

Another option was the myomectomy. Figured out that might help with the fibroids, but would still have to take the BC to control the hyperplasia, that is if the fibroids don't grow back as I am far from menopause. Anyone that had this done and still had to take the BC?

Of course the third option is the hysterectomy. But not sure what to do as right now just have annoying spotting and cramping. Heavy bleeding is under control, but cramping and spotting alot of the month is still an issue. Also my mother died of an aggressive cervical cancer that popped up in less than the year between pap smears and my maternal grandmother also had some issues that were never really discussed.

So am I just panicking for nothing and should just live with the annoyance?? Or is it time to go the next step as have been dealing with this for years. Have been gathering opinions, but most are of women much older than I am, I am 38, and their opinion so far is to go for the hysterectomy.

See, more questions, than answers. Any advice would be helpful

Re: More questions than answers, confused!!

I'm 32, and I had many questions also. If you're uncomfortable and in doubt, please see your doctor. Mine has given me a wonderful sense of calm. I did have an ablation and tubes tied five years ago, but I'm now having a hysterectomy in nine days. I'm confident I've made the right decision and can't wait for it to be over. I wish you the best of luck!
