I work in a large hospital and that conduct is completely inexcusable and unprofessional. Someone in the room should have said something to him when he was talking about his patients genitals. I generally hate awkward conversations like the one you need to have but in this case I would have no problem at all. This is your body and it is your choice who operates on you. Can't wait to hear how it went when you told him.

Weirdly enough, my surgeon actually made it easy. When he came into the room for our preop 'chat', he said "Oh, Dr. X will be assisting me with your surgery!" - and I must have made a face, because he said "...uh... is that not good?" and I said "no, it is NOT good." He asked me to elaborate just so he could understand and I told him the stories. He seemed taken aback, although I've see Dr. X behave this way on different occasions so I'm not sure why his colleague would be so surprised by it. Anyway, he said "I'll have to change some things around because he was allowing me to use his OR for that time, so now I will have to rearrange some things." I don't know exactly how it works but I'm not quite understanding why it was Dr X's OR at that time. Whatever - he did work it out and it is set. Another doctor has agreed to assist. I don't know this other doctor so I just have to pray he's good... I know my surgeon is good so I'm fairly calm about things. He had to tell Dr X that I didn't want him in on my surgery though, and there is a very good chance I will see Dr X on my surgery day and THAT may be a little uncomfortable, but eh, hopefully I'll be on drugs and won't care...

I agree. And if they have given you a little something prior to seeing him, you won't care. I am sure it will be fine.
