Oh no! I just thought about this!

I'm really going to have a doozy of a time getting in the vehicle to go home after my surgery. We have an SUV! DH's vehicle is a 4x4 that he has to lift me up to get into now. So that's out of the question, too. My grandparents also have a truck and an SUV so we can't use their vehicles either. I'm only 5'1 so this is a toughie! We honestly don't know anyone with a car that we can borrow. All of our friends have either trucks and/or SUV's. Sheesh!

We had this problem a while ago, DH brought a step ladder. It worked. Good Luck with your upcomming surgery.

Oh no! I just thought about this!

Haven't any personal experience in this yet, but I have read on some other posts that it is easier to get up in a vehicle, than it is to bend down and get into a car. I think it will probably be hard no matter which way we go. LOL.

Oh no! I just thought about this!

Hi!

Wow...vehicles today really pose a problem when it comes to things like this, don't they?

My DH has a SUV 4x4 and I drive a 2 seater low to ground car so it was sort of an issue for me, too. I did choose the 4x4 mainly because it's easier to get out of, but it is more difficult to get into. Our's has running boards which help and I was wheeled downstairs while he went to get the car.

DH pulled up as close to the curb as possible, the orderly wheeled me over to the curb and I was able to take a small step onto the running board and then inside comfortably. Luckily, it worked out for me.

We did also think about a small stool to use as a step if I needed it. I don't know if any of this will help you, but it did work out fine for me. I hope you can find a solution soon that will work well for you!

Best wishes!

Oh no! I just thought about this!

I'm 5'2" and dh has a Jeep. My vehicle is a van, so it's really not much better in that respect.

He brought a one-step stepstool (the same one I used to use to get into our bed, which used to be very high off the ground, too ) and I used that. It was really pretty easy, and it was actually easier to climb up into the jeep than it would have been to lift myself out of a car, if that makes sense.

For a while, he just kept the stepstool in his Jeep because I wasn't feeling well enough to drive for the first couple of weeks anyhow.

We also took one of those pads they put on the castle bed to protect the leather seats in the vehicle.

So funny you mentioned this I too have been concerned with this. We have a 4x4 large wheel dodge pickup with NO running boards. I have to climb now to get in can't imagine what it'll be like then. My DH car is 4x4 Jeep Grand Cherokee that needs new shocks. So that isn't a smooth ride. I actually think I'm gonna have my neighbor pick me up. Hate to have to do that but sometimes these things can't be helped.

Mrs. W, the step stool sounds like a great idea. You might want to consider it, even after getting home from the castle.
