Bowel Prep Question

Wow! I am soooo glad I didn't have to do the prep for this. Talk about adding insult to injury!

My problem is I have no instructions!!!

The hospital sent my little package and it has the tube but no instructions - I am thinking I will need to do a search and find some instructions.

As for my DH doing it - he is trying to convince me that I won't be able to do it so that he can!!! I will be staying at my mums the night before ( I live 2 hours from the hospital( so I won't even have the privacy of my own home.

Can you tell me how fast it worked - should I be near the toilet when I do it?

I am so embarrassed asking these questions but I am glad that I get to do it at home and not at the hospital.

Yikes!! Mine was in a package that we bought at the drugstore. It was just a bottle with a long slender top. I would call a pharmacy and tell them what you have and see if the pharmacist can give you some directions.
As for working....worked for me almost immediately. I couldn't get the whole bottle in before it worked and it didn't last long. Of course, I didn't have a whole lot since I ate a light supper.

I didn't do an enema, but I remember a post prior to my surgry about someone else getting there's from the hospital and NOT having instructions.

I agree with my3yorkies about calling the pharmacy or hospital to get clear instructions about it. I'm sorry I can't be more help, but do want to make sure that all goes well for you.

The prior post I remember was she had no instructions and when using it there was actully a little cap on the tube she did not notice until it got stuck. Might want to check that out before using.

I have had a look on the net - for the brand I have and have read the instructions....still doesn't seem like the most pleasant thing to do!!

Prep? I'm 4 1/2 weeks away from mine - no one mentioned bowel prep!! I just did one for a colonoscopy and swore to myself never again! Is it necessary? (dumb question I know)

I did not have to do a bowel prep...it seems to depend on the surgeon and hospital. I had a TVH and my mom had a TAH at the same hospital...neither one of us had to do the bowel prep.
