Don't be afraid!
I just wanted to stop by here to let up coming princess's know this surgery was not bad at all. My uterus and cervix along with scar tissue was removed yesterday. I was sore coming out of surgery but as soon as Demerol was given it eased away. I peed last night after my catheter was removed. It was giving me a fit and we figured out it either had a blockage or was kinked. But I've had no problem peeing and have done so about 8 times. The gas does hurt some, but not awful.
This morning I've eaten a biscuit, ham, and grits. I feel great.
Don't read any post-op threads. Stay positive that everything will be great and don't worry about something that hasn't happened.
I don't know what the remainder of the week will be, but I will take it one day at a time.
I wish each one of you an easy experience. Best of luck to you.
I basically put it in Gods hands would deal with things as they come up. So glad I did.

Re: Don't be afraid!
I have read many stories and they have helped me prepare for my surgery tomorrow, however, I have yet to hear anyone say that they are wearing a stomach binder. Does everyone wear one or is it only for certain surgeries?

Re: Don't be afraid!
I've ordered one and it should be here today, but I don't think I will need it. I haven't even pressed a pillow to my stomach. I had the robotic surgery thru bellybutton.

Re: Don't be afraid!
Thank you for posting this. I usually consider myself one tough cookie. I have had two kids with no pain meds at all and have had 3 laps for cysts and endo over the past 5 1/2 years. I usually have a high threshold for pain. All of that being said I am so nervous this time around. I think it's more of the "unknown" aspects. I'm fretting over things that I'm not even sure will happen. I start and then shake myself and tell myself to quit it. I also have a good amount of guilt over being down and out for my family. I know that's very irrational. My daughters are 15 and 9 so they can take care of me and themselves. My husband is an amazing man and will take very good care of me. I just feel like I need to be there for them. Weird right? I get this way when I get sick too though. Must be "Mom" guilt. Anyone else feel this way?

Re: Don't be afraid!
I did not have a binder for my VH with repairs and bladder sling. Really didn't need it, but I did have one six weeks later when I had an ABSO with repairs. Really helped. They put it on me as soon as I got to my room. I still wear it some days to walk when I feel jiggly. I highly recommend one if you are having abdominal surgery.

Re: Don't be afraid!
I am 5 days post-op (TAH) and wearing my binder and happy to have it. At first my Dr wasn't going to give me one but changed her mind I guess probably because of the outspoken person I am (wink)! After reading about it I knew I would want it. I wear mine most of the time but take it off time to time, it helps so much with how I feel when walking and with the swelly belly. I suggest wearing it! =) Best of luck to you!
