HRT questions
Hi Everyone!
I had my total hysterectomy in July. Recently started having horrible hot flashes, increased anxiety and pretty ugly depression. Other things going on as well, but those are the worst. Despite keeping my ovaries my NP feels I'm in menopause now (we did bloodwork in Sept, but it suggested perimenopause. My symptoms have drastically worsened since then.) So, we discussed the estrogen patch plus progesterone since I had endo. I have read a lot here, but still have some anxiety.
I put the first patch on today. My questions: If you had side effects how soon did they show up? Was there an adjustment period on them? How long did it take for things to even out/help?
I often struggle taking medications, so I'm very nervous...but I am desperate for help at this point. Thanks!

Re: HRT questions
I'm on a .05mg estradiol patch, having started it two years after surgery - I too kept my ovaries, and menopause finally let me in to the party!
I didn't have any side effects that I recognized as such. It took about 2 weeks for me to notice benefits, and maybe another week or two before I felt it was "in my system".
What are your concerns about HRT? Whether it's effective? safe?

Re: HRT questions
The safety I guess and side effect issues...because I react to...well air sometimes it seems lol. I have had a slight spaced out brain feeling since starting it, but it could be the weather we are having also. *Shrug* lol
It's been over 24 hours and I feel like my brain is less "crazy" without a better way to explain it?? Maybe it's the placebo affect? Who knows.

I'm really sensitive to meds and had trouble when pharmacy changed patch brand but have done well with sandoz. In fact, all "side effects" have been positive. It took me months to really notice a difference because the patch didn't seem to last as long as it was supposed to. I felt like I was on a roller coaster. With my sensitivity getting balance has been hard but generally worth it. So, if you're like me things might be a little rocky right now. Give it time. (Your dose might be low too bit that takes time also)
