biopsy and bloodwork results

I spoke to the doctors nurse today. She said the biopsy results were ok no cancer. She said they would not have to do the D&C if I decided to go ahead with the hysterectomy. She said I need to bring my bloodwork to GP to be cleared for surgery. She was concerned because my platelets were high. She said she didn't know if they could do surgery if they are high. Anyone know if high platelets and high cholesterol would prevent having surgery?

I've never known a surgery to be cancelled due to high platelets or cholesterol. I imagine that the level would have to be so very high that they would worry about you clotting postop. Of course, a big part of such a decision would be based on other lab results, PT, PTT and INR............... indicators as to how well you do/do not clot.

I have seen surgeries cancelled because of high white counts (indicates pre-existing infection) or low red counts (not enough blood for proper oxygenation/healing).

It would be best to see what your doc has to say. Do not know your situation, but it also would be wise to obtain a second opinion before going ahead with a hysterectomy, in light of your biopsy results. Let us know, OK? Take care...................s.....Deb

biopsy and bloodwork results

I am going to see my gp on Monday. I am like many here that are considering the hysto because I am tired of feeling sick. For the last 2 1/2 years I have been having pain in the lower back, side and abs. Pevic pain is getting worst. Other doctors have just been treating me for urine infections and send me on my way. Always seem to have blood in my urine with no explaination. Had every test know to man for kindey stones. Irreglar bleeding is more frequent heavier and clots. I have urine leakage. I feel pressure on my rectum during sex and after a lot of times. Recent u/s showed enlarged uterus and I have a ployp on my cervix. Also doctor said my womb was completly closed. I am almost 50 and have no plans of any more children. I have a daugther 24 and a son 22. If a hysto is going to make my life better I am for it. At least the pain will be over soon. I have no energy anymore.
