Bizzaro new pre hysterectomy cleanse instructions, has anyone else done it this way
Hi all, well the one thing I wasn't worried about was the cleanse. I did one a month ago for a colonoscopy and all went well. All of a sudden I got new changed directions on what they want me to do the night before surgery involving 6 prescriptions and 7 hours of hourly dosing. From 4-6 I do the Go Lolytely with a variation of anti nausea drugs/ antibiotics, antibacterials and gastrointestinal somethings. Then more antibiotics and antibacterials BUT then at 8pm I do a Suppository. If I have already done the cleanse I will be empty, what will the suppository do?? I have never done one and am baffled and a little freaked about doing it and having cramping with nothing left to get rid of. Has anyone else done this combo in this order?? Then I continue antibiotics and antibacterials til 11pm. Along with the complete hysterectomy they have a bunch of endometriosis to clean off of colon so I know they are wanting to to be very proactive and careful and am glad of that but still, any input??

Re: Bizzaro new cleanse instructions, has anyone else done it this way
My guess is they are being as proactive as possible in case you end up with a bowel resection. It is not always possible for a surgeon to remove endometriosis from the bowel without doing a bowel resection. Furthermore, there is a chance the bowel will be punctured as the endo is removed from it, so the cleaner it is and the more bacteria that has been eliminated, the less chance there could be that you would get a life threatening infection.
Though it sounds like a lot, please follow your surgeon's orders exactly. Don't make any chances unless you speak to your doctor and s/he okays it. With what is planned for you and the possibilities involved, it is critical that your bowel be as clean as possible.
Is your surgery with an endometriosis specialist and are you aware that a hysterectomy is not a cure for endometriosis? Just checking since too many women are still shocked to not find out until after the fact that a hysterectomy isn't a cure! If you are interested, we do have an Endometriosis Support forum where you can meet up with other women dealing with this diagnosis

Thanks, I definitely wouldn't change anything ordered, just kind of freaked at first reading... okay and second. I do realize and am glad she is/they are being proactive. While I do not believe she is specialist in endo, we have had conversations about not only the possibility of not getting everything but of possible reoccurrence also. This was decided to be the best course of action and I will actually be having her, another surgeon and a robot so hopefully 2 sets of eyes and on tv lens will help catch everything lol. Thanks for the support!
