Tummy pillow?

OK I've noticed several people talking about a tummy pillow for post-op, my question is what type of pillow should it be? Big, small, soft, firm...? Just curious

Tummy pillow?

I had just a regular pillow that I used on my bed and remember to have it for the drive home from the hospital.

Tummy pillow?

I asked the same thing and wasn't sure so took both a small throw pillow with me to the hospital and a lightweight throw blanket that I could easily fold to the shape I wanted.

And you know what? I really didn't use either. Once in awhile I will if I have to cough. Definitely would reach for something if I was going to sneeze. Throwing up is out of the question, won't be needing anything for that LOL.

Mostly, if I really need support, I use my hands.

If you do use something, it should be soft, with some substance, but not too much substance that you can't get it to bend with the shape of your body. The hospital just used a folded bed blanket immediately post op.

Whatever you decide to use, make sure you have it handy. I made the mistake of not having it within reach when I came home from the hospital and when my dog saw me after 3 days, she went nuts. She jumped into my lap, it was kind of scary, felt like my incision was ripping wide open. I've learned since then to make sure it's somewhere close, just in case.

Tummy pillow?

I used a small, square throw pillow that was nicely broken in -- not too hard, not too soft. Worked perfectly.

Best wishes!!!!!!

Tummy pillow?

I use a travel pillow my neighbor gave me for Christmas last year. (I have seen them at walmart for around $3)

I used it constantly...as protection from little ones, DH and cats...also works nicely to use with my laptop.

GOOD LUCK!!
