Colonoscopy at same time as hyster?

Has anyone ever had a colonoscopy at the same time as a hysterectomy? I asked my surgeon (first opinion guy) and he said he didn't see any problems with it as long as we could work out the scheduling issues with him and the gastro doc. I see 2nd surgeon for 2nd opinion on everything in a few days and will ask her as well, but wondered if anyone had ever had that done. I'd *love* to kill 2 birds with one stone, so to speak :O)

Re: Colonoscopy at same time as hyster?

It's a bit odd, since they're usually done by different professionals under different types of sedation in different locations within the hospital, and possibly with different types of prep as well.

For example: my hyst was done in the OR under general anesthesia (propofol IV) by my GYN, after a Fleet enema and NPO after midnight but with no oral bowel prep; my colonoscopy was done in an endoscopy suite under conscious sedation (Versed IV) by my gastroenterologist after an oral bowel prep but no enema. I can't envision how having both done at the same time would work and I'm not sure there's an advantage to it.
