dVH/RALH: Surgery tomorrow.....headache right now!!

OK......so I am doing the bowel prep (Dulcolax suppository)...but I have developed such a headache! Don't know if its the lack of food or nerves, but I need some relief! Can I take ibuprofen? If the answer is no, any suggestions?

You can not take ibuprofen or aspirin. My doctor told me I COULD take tylenol though. Something about the others being blood thinners and tylenol was not. I'd hate to give you bad advice, as am not a doctor. See if others post too. Also look at your pre op paperwork instructions. Mine said no ibuprofen 10 days before surgery but tylenol was ok. If you can find that paper maybe it will answer your question. You could call your hospital ( It's Sunday, so Dr is gone) Ask for an anesthesiologist nurse to speak to. They will know. ( don't know if a normal nurse would know) Headache may be from dehydration from bowel prep. Drinking 2 glasses may get rid of the headache!!

they told me to stop taking ibuprophen 2 weeks ago... i haven't had any kind of pain reliever since march 27th.. UGH... i have that headache too i think its from the lack of food.

i finished my bowel prep (magnesium citrate) at 3, and it hasn't kicked in good yet... trying to drink all the water i can, but i just want this over with

I had the magnesium citrate too. Be prepared for kick in. Have moist towelettes in bathroom and a good book. I was still feeling like I needed to go more surgery morning, but didn't. Hang in there girls, morning will soon be here. I am 11 days post op and have horrible insomnia and am on hystersisters all the time as I'm trying to rest and stay down. If your not able to sleep tonight and have questions or just need reassurance, feel free to post on this thread again and I'll try to help! The last night brings a lot of anxiety. It's best if you can sleep and then it comes faster
