Re: hysterectomy 5/2312 having anexity

You are totally normal. I am post op just over nine weeks now. I was a wreck right up until I went into surgery. Reading the articles and keeping up on the post op forum really helped ease my fears.
Best of luck to you.

Re: hysterectomy 5/2312 having anexity

You are almost there!!! Take some deep breathes and one day at a time. Try to keep busy if you can to keep your mind off of the "details". Here's a link to help you understand the different types of hysterectomies. https://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/article_152317.htm

Have you had your pre-op appt. yet? If not, do ask your to explain exactly what he/she is going to do and what you should expect during your recovery.

Re: hysterectomy 5/2312 having anexity

Me too. I feel really nervous too. I immediately wanted to call back and cancel after it took weeks to even make that phone call to try to schedule this. They are going to call monday and confirm the date. I keep 2nd guessing myself over and over. I keep thinking "have surgery?" "wait for menopause?" have surgery? wait for menopause? Then I think maybe try the Lupron shots and wait. Around and around I go. It was easier when I was told by the surgery "you have to have this or else". When given choices it makes me nuts!

Re: hysterectomy 5/2312 having anexity

I was in the same place last week thinking should I or shouldn't I have the surgery. Everyone I talked to that has had a hyster said it was the best choice they have made. And I'm so tired of the doctor ordering biopsys and ultrasounds. Always on alert that I'm high risk for endometrial cancer. I'm 51 postmenopausal and having bleeding. So I'm at peace with my decision. Now I'm getting close to the surgery date and its all I think about now. I will be so happy when I'm on the road to recovery. Soon i wont be worrying about this bleeding.

Re: hysterectomy 5/2312 having anexity

Hi there!
Mine is the 24th and sometimes I still wonder if it's necessary. I do have the pressure that after August I won't have insurance or at least will have one with a waiting period for surgery. So I guess I had no other chance to do it, than right now.

I've been thinking about it for 2 months after 2 years ignoring the fibroids. Five months ago began to have two heavy periods every month and knew something was not right. My fibroids (used to be three small) became a a single 7 cm tennis ball size.

Waiting is no longer an option. Surgery will be thursday but still wonder if I can live with the issues as my first Dr. Told me two years ago.

Re: hysterectomy 5/2312 having anexity

I was scared before mine but I had people from my church, work , and my moms friends all telling me it will be fine God is with you and He is using this in a way we can't yet see. Seven weeks later I was comforting my aunt with her choice to have a hysterectomy. Hang in their everything will be better soon.

Re: hysterectomy 5/2312 having anexity

I'm feeling anxious too, having my surgery a week after you. What I'm most nervous about is the anaesthetic, and also the unknown. I don't yet know what type of surgery I'm having - the surgeon is going to decide once I'm under. They're going to try it laparoscopically but will switch to an open incision if it proves difficult (I have cancer and they need to remove my lymph nodes as well as a total hysterectomy). I'm finding it difficult to plan for my recovery because I don't know how long I'll be in hospital and what my needs will be after.

I have my pre-op on Wednesday 23rd so hopefully I'll feel more confident then. I hope you find that just sharing your anxiety here helps you begin to deal with it - I already feel a bit better, and I only found this site this morning.
