Biopsy question

My appointment before last my gyno did a mini D&C and a Biopsy - he said he was taking a tissue sample from my uterus.

I have heard about endo biopsies here, is that the same thing as what I had done?

Thanks

Nikki

Biopsy question

Hi Nikki ,

It was probably the same thing.

An endometrial biobsy is usually done in the Dr's office with a mild pain reliever/muscle relaxer like NSAID. The Dr goes in and removes a small amount of endometrium. There sometimes is cramping which can range from mild to hard. Very rarely does it last more than a few minutes. The tissue sample is sent to pathology for findings and a report.

Hope this helped

s,
Kay

Biopsy question

Thanks Kay,
He didn't give me anything for pain because I take stuff every 2 hours for my neuromuscular pain, and I can't take muscle relaxers. He did warn me it would hurt and let mom hold my hand, but it didn't last a long time. He had to go for four tries because he kept getting blood clots instead of tissue.

Thanks again - and I am so glad that part is over with!!

Biopsy question

Hi Nikki, we have the same surgery date. I am scheduled for a TAH----still discussing the ovaries and cervix with Doc----I had an endometiral biopsy twice and what you describe, that sounds like what you had. I bled lightly for a couple of days after and had minor cramping the night after.....but no long term side effects. And I didn't get any muscle relaxers or pain med's either. Just tried to relax (yeah right), almost broke my God sister's fingers and grinned and bore it. It took her two tries to get it. My pathology came back fine. Hang in there.
