New to the forum and stressed out.

Hi all,

I have abdominal pain, especially after my periods. I went to see my family physician who ordered an ultrasound. THe ultrasound showed enlarged ovaries (Fibroids) and a large cyst. The gynecologist had me take a blood test: a tumor marker test CA125. The level was elevated(115 whereas the normal level would be up to 35)

I had a CTScan and an XRay this morning. I am waiting for the results and am a nervous wreck.

I am scheduled for abdominal hysterectomy December the 5th.

Did anybody have to deal with this? Please let me know.

Amalita.

Hi Amalita,

's

I am so sorry that you are in pain and are facing a hysterectomy, but I am very glad that you have found Hystersisters. As physicsteacher said, this is the place to come to research, to learn, and to meet others who understand your fears and will be there with some 's any time you need them.

If you haven't already read them, be sure to read the pre-op and post-op hints that are found in the drop down boxes toward the bottom of the main page of the site, and when you get a chance, go back into your profile and add your surgery date so you'll receive our special wishes for that day.

Please keep us informed about the results of your tests.

Hey Amalita?

I had EXACTLY the same thing happen to me. YOU ARE NOT ALONE! They rushed me through the process pretty quickly and I am WAY on the other side of it now. I see they are doing the same thing for you. Get in there, get it sorted. You will be SO happy when this is all over, hon. The waiting is the hardest part, there's no doubt about that, but since you're here, why don't you do some reading in here, do some chatting in the chat room ... and you'll find that you are within a very loving and caring sisterhood here.

*HUGE HUGGERS* hon. You can E me or PM me any time you'd like.

Hi, Amalita -

In addition to what the others have said, I wanted to mention that the CA125 can be elevated for reasons other than cancer - such as fibroids. So don't panic too much :-)

Hang in there!!!

Cheers,
