5 days post op from dvh and bso Help!!

I am 29 and had everything removed 5 days ago. The dr started me on 1 mg of Estradiol in the recovery room. I started having hot flashes within hours of getting to my room. Yesterday I seemed to have increasing menopausal symptoms. I haven't slept since the surgery because of the hot flashed and night sweats. Here is what is going on currently:
Headaches
Hot flashes
Night sweats
Memory loss
Cotton Brain
Irritable
Weepy
Dizzy
Palpitations
Shaky

I don't know how much of this is just the pain meds after effects of the surgery and what is hormones. I called my Dr. last night (he is a sweetheart) and he had me increase my dose to 1.5 mg. Within 30 minutes I was feeling almost normal again but it only lasted until this morning. I saw the Dr. today and he wants to wait about 2 weeks to make any changes. Any ideas how o survive the next 2 weeks?

I will try anything right now until we get the hrt settled and leveled out.

HI Firestonecool,
I wish I had suggestions has I to have just about every symptom on your list.
The night sweats are killing me, however I hate to say this but I to was looking for some ideas and at the end of the day its something we jsut have to deal with until everything settles.
The dr told me (also a wonderful guy) and he told me that stress will also increase the symptoms (I have a lot go on right now) so he told me to drink some chamomile tea before going to bed and so far it has helped a little with the night sweats. But apparently we have to hang in there.
I have my 6 week post op on Monday so I hoping he can up my dose otherwise like I told him my family may not live through this!
Hang in there, you're not the only one as I to feel like I won't survive!
Happy Thanksgiving!

What you are experiencing could be from fluctuating hormone levels as your body recovers from surgery and uses up its stored reserves of hormones. These symptoms are fairly common. Unfortunately for some of us, we need to be patient and ride it out. I would hesitate to do too much tweaking this early in your recovery.

Some of the things I did to deal with the hot flashes was to dress in layers. This way when one hit I could easily shed a layer and feel a little cooler. Whenever possible, I kept a glass of ice water nearby and I bought one of those small battery operated fans. It was my best friend during the early months post op.

For the night sweats, I slept in a very light cotton nightshirt, kept a glass of ice water on the nightstand and kept a fan blowing on me. I also did not hesitate to get up and change my nightshirt if I awoke drenched. A clean change of clothes helped me to be able to drift off back to sleep.

in there. It can get better.
