Sch'd TAH and Burch Sling on 12/19/05. Nerves on edge and butterflies in stomach. Questioning decission, daulting support at home, scared ?success, and need for speedy recovery since i am the go-to person, the do-it-all mom-wife-daughter. 33 hours to go and counting.
i feel i am expecting so much after and fear unrealistic expectations. feels somewhat better to just voice fears.
thanks for listening and just being here.

Welcome to HysterSisters! I'm so glad you decided to post!

Your feelings and emotions sound quite normal. Why are you having a hysterectomy and did you get a second opinion? I think it's a good idea to get a second and third opinion. It helps to put your mind at ease, too.

I'm sure you have read here enough to see that everyone's experience is different. One common thing we all have to do is to take time to recover afterwards. Follow your doctor's instructions for you and don't overdo. It can be hard at times, especially if you are an on the go person, but it can be done.

We are always here for you and we care. You are in my thoughts and prayers for an uneventful surgery and a quick recovery.

s, Deb

I wish I were you. Just remember there is somebody out there who wants to be having their surgery done. You are the lucky one to be almost done. I wish you the best. Take deep breaths, and think of me.

Hi

My thoughts go out to you! Hang in there because my SAH is the following day at 3:30 in the afternoon so I know how nerve wrecking this can be! I wish you the best of luck and I am sure everything will go just fine!! See you on the other side!

Im the go to person too! I help my 83 year old dad run his insurance agency, make sure the other seniors in the family get to their appointments, listen to my older nieces and nephew, take care of their kids. Moral support for brothers, sisters and their spouses.
I have 2 young children of my own also, and a hubby. Hes acting kind of funny at the moment, I think its because I'm feeling needy for his attention. Hes giving me what I need, but I think hes worried. It will come out eventually, but hes a "gotta think about it for awhile guy."
I'm not a frequent church goer, kids and rest of family are, but I do pray on a reguliar basis. I don't ask god for things but for help in decision making, and thanks for the good things. After my last bout of the period from hell I asked for guidance. I woke in the morning with my docs number in my head and called, so glad I did. My situation was worse then anyone suspected and I will see doc 12/28 for scheduling. I'm getting together one of my LISTS of things for my kids to do while I'm laid up, people I might be able to call that might help entertain them. DH has a plan for my pc so I can work at home, my office is next door at my dads so I will be able to go to his house and still rest, an won't be alone. I almost want to laugh at the chaos this is going to cause everyone, (except for my kids, and dad). I love my family so much but sometimes they are all to self absorbed.
Just remember that everything has a way of working itself out. You sound like a strong determined person with a wonderful heart. I will keep you in my prayers.
love Donna

It will be OK

I am having surgery LAVH, BSO, Ant/post repair and sling on Dec 28th.I cannot wait to get it OVER with. I am just ready to move to the post op recovery. There is so much information out there on BOTH sides of every decision you had to make. Trust yourself, pray for peace and put it in God's hands. That does not mean to not be aware of what is going on...always watch out for your own best interests and never be afraid to ask questions and speak up -there are NO stupid questions! I am an RN so I have been on the other side. We WANT you to be comfortable and feel like you have your questions answered, even though we run around and are busy, we are working for you and are YOUR advocate. Expect nothing less!!
I am confident I will be emotional and I am planning on lots of crying because I do it now every month and Hallmark commercials!
Really - just try to think positive thoughts and realize that many people go through this and do very very well. You should expect nothing less. Best of luck to you tomorrow !

Hang in there Okie!

I think the fears and doubts are natural. I know the butterflies are natural - I've certainly got them going on inside of me. Hang in there and know that we are all behind you and wishing you a speedy recovery. But rest and follow your doctor's recommendations so you don't set yourself back by doing too much too soon! Take care.

May the peace of God be upon you . I pray that his peace will saturate you like a warm, furry blanket tonight. I pray that God will guide the surgeons hands and that you will have a quick, uneventful recovery. Amen

Me too, Okie!! I'm going in tomorrow morning for a TVH/BSO, which no one can guarantee will cure my terrible hormonal migraines. But, I figure this is probably the worst part -- the waiting. I'm sure once I get started recovering I'll probably be glad. Keep taking deep, cleansing breaths whenever you think about it -- that's my solution so far. I'll be thinking of you and wishing us both well soon.
