Cramps following ablation ~ hysterectomy now recommended

Hi. I had a D&C w/ablation Aug 2010 due to thick endometrial lining (24) and very heavy periods. I have had 2 c-sections in the past.
After the ablation I had what I considered a normal period. I had hoped for no period at all but normal was much better than the red river flood I experienced before.
I noticed from the first period after ablation that I was having cramps, pretty much for the first time in my life. Each month they became progressively worse and less and less bleeding. This past April was the worst, I thought I was in labor from the horrible cramping and no blood was coming out. Turns out (after more ultrasounds which discovered my lining was at 10 already and a second D&C end of May) that my cervix was closed "like a brick wall" was how my dr described it and I have complete scar tisue lining my uterine wall. I just started my period a few days ago and woke up in horrible pain (like labor) last night. I saw my dr today and she is recommending a laparoscopic hysterectomy. ANyone have any thoughts? I don't want to go through this every month...taking motrin 800mg, the pain, the worry. But somehow I am not convinced this is the right thing to do. Help please!

I’m sorry you’re having problems that bring you here but am very glad you’ve joined and hope you’ll benefit from the wealth of information and support!

You're very wise to be cautious since a hysterectomy is a big decision, and major surgery, which should only be considered as a last resort after all other options have been exhausted. You may find further medical opinions very useful indeed at this point ~ please take a moment to visit www.givemea2econd.com to find out how a second opinion could help you.

Please take your time researching and asking questions. Checking out our <link> Treatment Alternatives page should help with this, too.

Sending all good wishes and we're here to support you ~ every step of the way!
