Re: Losing cervix makes sex not natural?

i havent had my surgery yet so i dont know the answer. But this has been something i have been thinking about a lot. i know in my head that surgery should remove the pain, and make it better. but i feel like i will have to brace myself and expect pain. which is not going to make it enjoyable at all. so i need to find a way to get it into my head that sex = good times not pain

Re: Losing cervix makes sex not natural?

It was scary. I was just sure he'd poke right through my brand new hoo hoo dilly-I'm not afraid of the word "vagina", I just think it is a silly sounding word and clearly hoo hoo dilly is not : ) The key is communication. Let him know that you are scared. You need to be in charge; try being on top-that way you can decide how far he goes in. Personally, I have no issues with lubrication, I'm on HRT and just plain lucky, but you might want to use extra lube. Don't have any expectations. I was just so happy to be able to have sex again; I wasn't going after the Big O right out of the gate. Honestly, it was great. Why? We got to have a "first time" again. We were giggly and nervous. It was just really great. The real question you want answered? Yes, I have orgasmed through intercourse and not just masturbation since being released. Our sex life is ridiculous. My drive was very strong pre hyster, but I was always bleeding or in pain or hormonally psycho. Now, my sex drive is through the roof but with none of the barriers. You will do great, just talk it out and relax. The beauty part? You get to practice until you get it "right" Enjoy!

Re: Losing cervix makes sex not natural?

I had my cervix removed, was not given a choice in the matter. I had my hyst at age 43. So far I have found sex to be better than it ever was before. I am on hormone replacement and have had no issues with lubrication and getting to the big "o" is easier than before. In fact, for the first time in my life I am able to get them in multiples!

Everyone is different, but for me, the cervix apparently is not a big deal.

The first few times were really all about my dh and I getting to know each other again. LOT's of foreplay and cuddling. It was kind of like being newlyweds again in a way. Take your time, don't rush things, and make sure you dh let's you be in control. Our first time was fabulous.

Re: Losing cervix makes sex not natural?

Thank you Sharona 19 & Love The Ocean,

I appreciate your help. I'm going with the 'first time' theory! Maybe it is all the talk of 'NOTHING' in the hoo hoo dilly for 6 weeks, then 6 more weeks so it has frightened me. Honestly not looking for the "O" yet!

Thank you for responding

I'm telling you this because I want you to know that sex is awesome now!! I asked if he thought I felt different. He said nope. It's different for me in the good way-he used to bump my cervix and it hurt. As far as bladder suspension, the cervix is very small so structurally, its loss is minor. As you'll see in other posts, this is a hot topic. The choice is yours and by doing all this reasesrch, you'll make the right one for you. Good luck and take care : )

One other thing: the comment your DR made about sex without a cervix being not natural, I found that insulting. Are all us without a cervix freaks now? I think not!!!
That sounds a lot better. I know my husband bumps mine a lot and it really is painful. I haven't had pleasure from sex in a long time due to it being painful most times. I found it to be a bit insulting as well since he said I may need mine done. It has made me scared I would be weird inside. I think a lot of his concern is the possible shortening of the vagina though. I'm also terrified of the hormones and the side effects. It may sound kinda shallow but hair loss at 24? Not to mention the stroke risks and things and all the info on the internet is such a contradiction though all the help here has been very comforting and reassuring .

It's funny to me, all the uproar about HRT. Your body makes the hormones for you use so it makes perfect sense to "replace" them if the manufacturer "shuts" down. I must be in opposite world because my hair is now glorious and I look 10 years younger. I'm sure I look younger because the pain is gone from my face. I don't worry about stroke etc. as I do not smoke or have any other risk factors. A plus to me also is that my DR and I can exactly tweak my hormones so I get optimal results. You want to talk vain? I want to make sure my hormones are there so I can continue to have a great sex life.....
