I have been having really bad bladder spasms and some leaking and was wondering if I will need bladder repair work done.Should my doctor be able to tell me before surgery{tvh},or will I wake to an unpleasant surprise? At the moment I am taking Detrol to help control the spasms. The medicine isn't working as well as it did when I first started taking it.Thanks

your bladder issues need to brought to your dr's attention BEFORE your surgery so any tests/procedures, etc can be done and a diagnosis and treatment plan put in to place...most dr's will not do anything while youre in the OR if the proper consent forms havent been signed unless its an emergency situation.

(((Jenny))) if your DR is not a urogynecologist, I would recommend consulting one before your surgery. And yes, make sure your DR addresses this with you before your surgery date. You wouldn't want to wake up and find out you need another procedure!
