Surgeon is sick now new thing to worry about?

I know the sisters will understand so I had to come and vent. I am finally getting close to having my check list complete. Tomorrow is my pre-op appointment and then I will be good to go. I have care all lined up for my kids and hopefully have created the best recovery situation. It took a lot of planning but I was starting to relax just a bit.
Just got a call tonight on my machine that my surgeon is sick and is cancelling my pre-op appointment tomorrow. Very sick with high fever was mentioned in the message from the office manager. Now I wonder if my surgery will need to be rescheduled and if it isn't then will my surgeon be at 100% for surgery if they are sick now. A new set of worries for me to stress and obsess about. Of course my husband said not to think about it because it is out of my control. He is right but that is easier said than done! Thanks for letting me vent!

I could see why you would be concerned - I would be too if I were in your place. They will probably make a judgment call as the next few days progress about our surgeons ability to operate. The 11th is still a few days away. Sometimes you can get over a virus in a day or two, and be fine. We will send many positive HysterSister thoughts your way...

Your husband is right, its out of your hands and what will be, will be. I know you must be anxious but it will work out for the best! xxxLaura

Re: Surgeon is sick now new thing to worry about?

Your husband is right. The way my dad explains it is if you worry about something before it happens, then you have to live through the misery twice! That philosophy really sticks with me.

My surgery was rescheduled twice, and all still turned out fine for me and my family. Sometimes things like this happen for the best in the end. Try not to worry. If your doctor is still sick, or weak from being sick, they may work your surgery in within a week or so.
