New here...Hello All

Hello All,
I am new here and have a vaginal hysterectomy scheduled for 2/20/12 due to very early stage cervical cancer. Any suggestions for pre and post op are much appreciated as I am scared to death!!

Hello I had a tvh on January 30 for that same reason. Pre op for me waiting was the worst. I spent a lot of time questioning everything. Post op I'm relieved. My surgery went very quickly and pathology came back saying cancer was only in cervix. Happy day! I'm recovering well and my pain is minimal. I have to keep stopping myself from doing to much. All and all it can be an emotional roller coaster as many other sisters will agree. Good luck in your journey. Keep coming here this place is amazing. I had my TVH in July due to adeno and cervical dysplasia. The waiting is really the hardest part, all the worrying if you're doing the right thing and what will it be like after. My suggestions are to clean your house from top to bottom as you won't be able to clean it for about 6 weeks post op. Freeze lots of convenient meals because cooking is difficult post op. I also suggest a heating pad and body pillow for post op. Get Gas X and stool softener to help with your first BM's. Have lots of movies for post op too, I had a bunch of books but was not able to read them due to the pain meds and lack of concentration. You will need help around the house for at least the first 1-2 weeks. Wishing you the best.
