Gaining girth while losing weight?
Hi all. I am having a situation a bit opposite from supergr8life (posted about gaining weight and bloating). I have lost about 8 lbs in the past month and a half with out doing anything. I haven't even been able to do my usual work out because it puts too much pressure on my pelvis. My belly keeps bloating out bigger, but the weight is decreasing.... Has anyone else had this happen?
I'm assuming it may be a combo of nerves (surgery is in 5 days) and pressure around my stomach making me not so hungry??? When I am hungry, I eat whatever sounds good - pop tarts, ice cream, Mac & cheese...ever so healthy, I know!
Any ideas or others who experienced this are invited to share!

Re: Gaining girth while losing weight?
I typically lose weight when I'm under stress. That's been true all my life. Since I work in a tax preparation department and tax season is a busy, stressful time of year for us, I typically lose weight throughout tax season. This past year, I was scheduled for surgery a month after tax season ended, so I continued to lose weight throughout that month. Then for the first week or two after surgery, my appetite was wonky, so I still wasn't eating very much!
Eventually things settled down and I gradually gained back the weight I had lost. Now we're headed into tax season again, so the cycle's starting all over - hopefully *without* major surgery this time! *grin*
Respectful suggestion: after surgery, you might want to try transitioning to a healthier diet. If you're still on the pop-tarts-and-ice-cream plan when your appetite starts to pick up, you may find that you gain weight faster and to a greater degree than you'd really like.

Re: Gaining girth while losing weight?
Thanks for the reply, SurprisedInNB. First, the stress thing makes sense. I was a little worried just because the belly keeps looking bigger & there is always that worry of cancer even though in theory my only issue is a gigantic fibroid.
Also, your suggestion on the diet is already in consideration! I've been trying to eat veggie sandwiches & lean meats, but the tummy isn't processing those so well right now. Since I'm eating so little, I'm allowing a little leeway, but have good, nutritious foods & soups stocked for post surgery, hoping that both appetite and my bio food processing return to normal!
Here is hoping your tax season is a bit less stressful & definitely surgery free this year!
