Upcoming hysterectomy 8/16: Pre-Surgery Testing? Smoking?

So I'm getting my bag together last night and I grab the folder for the hospital that my doctor told me to bring with me. I'm looking through it and there is this little brochure and in it it talks about pre-surgery testing that has to be done by the pre-surgery department or your primary care physician. I'm freaking out because my surgery is two days away and I'm just now finding this out...
I called the number on the brochure and they are squeezing me in tomorrow morning so they don't have to reschedule my surgery. My doctors office doesn't open for another hour, but I'm going to call them too. I am trying to be calm, but I feel like this is a pretty important thing they should have told me to schedule. Anyone know if it's possible that it's not necessarily required? Well, better safe than sorry, but this is not helping my anxiety!
Speaking of I'm trying to stop smoking (because it's bad for me and it's especially bad when you're having surgery and need to recover), but I'm so stressed out that it's even harder. Anyone else a smoker? How did you manage the stress and the not smoking at the same time?

Re: Pre-Surgery Testing? Smoking?

i'm sure it's required but it should be back in time. some women don't have their bloodwork until the morning of the surgery.

I was born and raised in Las Vegas! Great job making it 3 weeks so far! You’ve totally got this! I’ve heard mixed reviews about chantix, I kind of wish I would have asked my doctor about it sooner. I thought it would be easier, but then again I didn’t think I’d be as nervous as I am. It sounds like you have really overcome some major things and you’ve definitely got all the ladies here for support!

I am not. I’m in Ohio now. I moved away 17 years ago. My dad lived there until he passed in 2012. I used to go back once or twice a year.
