blood transfusion before hysterectomy

hi I just had my pre test done today.and now I have to have blood transfusion. what can I look to have done. I was told it will be allday. help!

I had to have a blood transfusion following my hysterectomy. I required 2 pints and a super tiny needle so it took half of the day. It wasn't painful, just boring to have to be still for that many hours.

I would suggest you take a book, laptop, crossword puzzles, etc. to entertain yourself during the transfusion. You could also call the facility where you will be going and ask specific questions to ease your mind.

I had to have 3 units of blood pre op. Each unit runs over 3-4 hrs. During this time your temp pulse & blood pressure will be monitored. I read a book & a few magazines etc to pass the time.
