Re: So many procedures at once ?

Hello. I had ovaries, cervix, and fallopion tubes removed. I also had a posterior repair, anterior repair, and the ligament colpopexy. The only thing I didn't get was the sling. I would get it alllllll done at one time. Go in with one surgery and come out and recover once. What I'm seeing is the Dr. is going to possibly remove your ovaries and fallopian tubes. You'll get the vaginal prolapse pulled up and fixed. You'll get the posterior repair which is where they tighten up the vagina at the opening by the rectum because it's sagging and prolapsed. The sling is for your bladder. I had so many fibroids, endometriosis, ovary issues with cysts so I just got all of mine taken out. It's very normal to do it all at once. You can post where you just did for any questions you have before your surgery such as fears or general questions. You can also post in the separate surgeries area to ask about specific issues with a specific procedure. The pelvic support forum is for help with any issue such as pelvic floor physical therapy or bladder issues, etc. Sometimes the forums overlap a little. You'll also have a recovery forum that will be specific to your date of surgery along with other women that have the same surgery week as you. You can share things with those recovering at the exact same time. Ask lots of questions if you don't understand. Your Dr. should have no problem explaining exactly what is being done and why.

Hi lilyandkush to HysterSisters

I am so glad you found this site.

We have a forum for repairs where you are welcome to post:
Pelvic Floor and Bladder Issues

They can do a number of repairs at once during a hysterectomy, trying to solve lots of problems. You are not the only one.

Re: Upcoming December hysterectomy and repairs: So many procedures at once ?

Just to clarify, the Separate Surgeries forum is for those who are having surgeries (such as an oophorectomy, salpingectomy, trachelectomy, etc.) independent of having a hysterectomy. Any questions that you have prior to the surgery you're scheduled for should be asked right here in the Pre-Op forum, the exception being if you have questions that are specific to those issues covered in the Pelvic Floor and Bladder Issues forum which was linked for you by (((marestail))). If in doubt, post your new thread in Pre-Op and a Hostess will move it if she thinks you will get better input and support in a specialty forum.
