Upcoming hysterectomy 10/6
I’m a complete nervous wreck. I M 33 years old and have been having issues for the past 5 years. I was diagnosed with AUB 4 years ago when my body decided to not stop bleeding postpartum. Was on many different BCPs, then was on depo provera for a few months then Mirena. In the midst of all of this I had tests and surgeries to try and find the reasoning for my AUB. I had a cervical ablation with insertion of an iud as I had a few highly vascularized areas that the dr thought may be causing it. I spontaneously expelled my IUD 6 wks post op. Scariest time ever with the amount of blood and clots. Then after more ultrasounds and a CT the dr decided we will try an endometrial ablation and a tubal ligation at the same time. The ablation worked for about 6 weeks then the bleeding returned. Then it was more waiting. Blood tests, among other tests.
So far nothing has worked. So I am now scheduled for a hysterectomy, taking cervix, uterus and tubes but leaving just the ovaries. Did my pre op stuff today and surgery is scheduled for October 6 at 8am.
I am a wreck. I’m scared. I’m nervous. I’m glad that my issue will finally be dealt with but I have so many mixed emotions. I’ve cried many times already. I don’t even know what it is. I’ve never had this type of major surgery before. I think the fear of the unknown Ian what bothers me most. I still have no exact reasoning as to what’s causing the bleeding. And that bothers me as well.
I’m glad I found this group. Reading all the other threads has helped as well.

Re: 1 week before Hysterectomy 😬
Hi vb84 -
I am sorry you are dealing with all of this. Know that your emotions, feelings and fears are all very normal. It is very hard to lose your uterus, something that has made its presence known to you, for better or worse, for decades. I several times before my surgery and many more times after. I mourned the loss of my uterus, cervix, tubes and ovaries for a long time. I understand how you feel.
I makes sense to be frightened since they do not know what is causing the bleeding. You can get other opinions on this, if you wish, if you have not done so already.
All of the unknowns are scary, and you do not know how it will be for you until you are there. The good news is that we will be by your side throughout this process. You are not alone - never on this site.

Upcoming hysterectomy 10/6
Hi!
I'm a nervous wreck too! Your surgery is the day before mine so we're in the same boat as far as that is concerned. I have no advice for you unfortunately but just thought I'd let you know that you're not alone with the fear!!!

Re: Upcoming hysterectomy 10/6
Hi there vb84,
I am with you on the fearcoaster, sitting in the front seat! I think we wouldn't be normal if we weren't scared. My Op is scheduled for Oct 5 (Australia). I am with Scaredsally, I also don't have any advice but you are totally not alone. I am just about to list my fears on my "i'm new here" post (the way I am feeling it should take me about an hour to finish my list lol).
xx

I wish I'd found this board BEFORE my surgery...it was the scariest time EVER. My situation was totally different, but the fear was incredible. You're NOT alone! Best wishes to you!

Re: Upcoming hysterectomy 10/6
So sorry you are so nervous and scared about your upcoming surgery. I had endometrial ablation 7 years ago and that was the beginning of my back pain and then this year I had cramping so bad I could not walk. I went to one of the best obgyn $$$ nearby and he suggested the possibility of endometriosis outside of my uterus??? Really? I was scheduled for full hysterectomy 2 weeks later so I did not have time to worry. I am 3 weeks post op and dr found endo in 4 areas. The first 2 days were rough with pain but it subsided. I am glad to have answers regarding all of my pain!! I am sure you will do great! Try to stay busy and keep your mind focused on other things because your dr has your best interest. Good luck to you! Keep sharing!
