11 weeks and still not healed

I went today for my checkup and I still have a place that is not healed. He put some more (put some on at 6 weeks also) silver nitrate on - which was uncomfortable. I think this exam was more uncomfortable than it was at 6 weeks. He said I had some tissue growing out. Does that sound like granulation that I have read about? Anyway, I go back in 8 more weeks to see if all is finally healed. I must be a sloooow healer, but I know I will get there eventually. I can deal with this little setback easily because life is 100% better than before surgery. I was wondering if anyone else had healed as slowly as I am or am I just "special" lol.

11 weeks and still not healed

Dear Melissa,

I'm sorry to hear you're healing slower than expected. It seems that everyone is different. The one thing my doctor's nurse suggested to help me heal more quickly is vitamin C. Don't know if it helped or not.

My TAH/RSO (BS) in 95) was 4/17 and I still have a few open spots on an incision due to a lot of leaking post surgery. When I went in for my post-op at week 7, my doctor wasn't concerned and said it would heal fine.

I hope you heal soon! And, I'm glad the doctor is taking very good care and checking regularly to make sure you are on the right road. Sorry about the painful silver nitrate stuff tho.

Yes, it sounds like granulation that they are treating with the silver nitrate. Everybody heals differently and at a different pace. Just continue to pamper yourself. As you said, life post-op is better than before and it will continue to get better each day. Hang in there. Take care.
