Total hysterectomy planned in Aug

Hi everyone, I have a total hysterectomy scheduled in Aug. I have alot of unknown about it. I am told I have adenomyosis. On the scan report, I have cysts on both ovaries and fibroid. I chose surgery as i do not wish to take hormones; after taking those hormones for a few IVFs/FETs. I am here to know more. Thank you.

Re: Total hysterectomy planned in Aug

We’re very glad you’ve joined!

In Princess Ruby’s links above you’ll see our Pre-Op Page which is packed with information and articles that address all our most commonly asked questions in the last 22 years, and also the Pre-Op Hysterectomy Support Forum where you’ll find all the ladies awaiting surgery. Please don’t hesitate to start a new topic thread there so your sisters can share their experiences if you’ve any concerns.

Please be sure to check out Our "Must Have" Prepare List and visit the Hints From Members forum for thousands of sisters' must-haves and should-haves! You may also wish to visit your surgery category in Our Hysterectomy Stories forum, too, where you'll find many hundreds of detailed experiences.

Also, please take advantage of your personalised checkpoints which will refresh on an ongoing basis, and our extensive Pre-Op Video Library, too.

Just to clarify, if necessary, and to help with information you'll find around the site: a total hysterectomy removes the whole uterus, whereas a partial hysterectomy removes the top portion of the uterus only leaving the cervix in place. Removal of both ovaries/tubes is a separate procedure altogether known as a bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy or BSO. Hope that helps.

We’re sending best wishes and positive thoughts!
