I had my second sugery on Tuesday to remove my ovaries. Dr had to do it abdominally thru the same incision. I was give IV fluids for 2 days in the hospital. I got home this afternoon and I can't belive how swollen and full of fluid my whole body is. I never seemed to notice that compliant here before. Is they anyone how had this and know how to get the fluid moving. I am peeing quite alot but it still has not gone down, if anything it is getting worse. I am so uncomfortable. Please help.

swelly belly

Yep, it probably could be the famous Swelly Belly-here is a post op article about it that might make you feel better;

https://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/hsa...p?s=&id=163685

Also you can look up in the purple bar at the top of this page and click on Checkpoints. There are some for one week, two weeks post op that might help.

Who know why sometimes swelly belly is a problem and sometimes it is not?
hope it gets better soon!

Question About Fluid build up after surgery

You say your whole body is swollen? Has your weight increased? Might want to give your doc a call in the morning if you're still noticing swelling anyplace other than your tummy...

swole like a tick...

Hi Sandi,
had tvh on 1/3 and home on eve of 1/4. now almost 4 days post op and I'm still 10lbs heavier than the day of my surgery. almost everything on my body is swollen. i thought I was crazy until i stepped on the scale and saw just how much fluid i'd retained from the iv. i've also got killer headaches. called my doc today and advised to drink lots of caffeine and take excedrin migraine; actually worked as haven't gotten a headache since i did it (of course haven't been able to fall asleep either....hope we both deflate soon.. take care

Question About Fluid build up after surgery

The swelling is all over , I am 15 ilbs heavier than before. My sugery on 12/16/04 the swellilng was just in the belly area. I didn't have food for a few days before or after the surgery , so I had IV fluids pumped in me for 3 days.

I guess we are going through similar bloating! What are you drinking with caffine? Soda and coffee what else? Thanks and I hope you are feeling back to normal soon too.

Question About Fluid build up after surgery

Yep, I weighed about 10 lbs heavier too right after my TAH/BSO for about a week then I peed, peed, peed for about 3 days straight and lost 15 lbs since surgery! I know it is all water weight from the fluids given too me. I am still peeing alot and my GYN said its from all the fluids that was given to me.

Postop weight gain

Had TAH/BSO on 12/15/2004. When I came home from the hospital on 12/17/2004, I weighed 20 lbs. more than preop -- from 128 to 148 lbs! Almost all the swelling was in the belly area. By two weeks postop, I was back to my preop weight.

Question About Fluid build up after surgery

I had the same problem, came out weighing the same as I went in and I knew they took out an 8 lb. blob. My thighs were huge which was the first thing I noticed. Within 3-4 days, I had lost 16 lbs. It was all fluids from the IVs.
