Hello everybody! I'm brand new to all this. Everyone seems so supportive and helpfull. I've gotten alot of info off of this site. I'm going in for a TLVH on August 16th. I'm getting my hysterectomy for uterine prolapse and also, I've been having very irregular bleeding. (all the time - been on birth control pill for 5 yrs. , tried everything possible and still nothing works) So, we figured with the prolapse it's about time for the hysterectomy. I'm getting nervous but, am somewhat relieved that all this pain and bleeding will stop. I do have a question but, it's not really associated with the hysterectomy. Right now I am so bloated (I look like I'm 3 months pregnant - really!). I'm not sure why this is happening and I was wondering if anyone else had the same thing happen. It's not time for my period (It's over a week since I had my last one). Also, is there anything I can take. Will it affect my surgery at all if I take something? Thanks and Good Luck to everyone. P.S. Anyone out there getting their hysterctomy on the 16th of this month?

Welcome, Summer! I haven't had my surgery yet (August 13 and counting) but from what I've heard you shouldn't take anything without consulting your doctor, because taking the wrong thing can cause your surgery to be postponed. You sound similar to me - I have heavy, clotty periods, which I guess I could live with, except why should I, and also my uterus is prolapsing. So off I go on Monday for my TVH. Hopefully my recovery is easy and quick - I hate being idle.

Hello and welcome Melissa - Glad you found us.

My gyn. told me to stop anti-inflammatories 10 days before surgery. Check with gyn. about what you should and/or shouldn't be taking close to surgery date.
