Hey all!

I’m from Perth.

My surgery is TODAY!! They’re taking cervix, uterus, tubes and my pesky fibroids!

Hope everyone is recovering well!

Any 2021 Aussies on the site?

Hi,
I’m in Sydney and new to this site. This is my first post and still trying to figure it out.
Had a complete hysterectomy via laparoscopy with removal of the single tube I had left and both ovaries-so straight in to menopause as well.
This was 2 1/2 weeks ago.
I hope you’re doing well?

It's great to have you join us!

If you've not already done so, please check out our Recovery Questions Forum and feel free to start a new thread there if you have any concerns. (To start a new thread, just click on the "New Topic" button which is located at the top and bottom left of that forum’s main page, or click here). We also have a Post-Op Page which is packed with information, too.

For general updates, however, please feel free to join the progress reports thread for your surgery week, in the sub-forum, here.

Also, please take advantage of your personalised checkpoints which will refresh on an ongoing basis, and our extensive Post-Op Video Library, too.

When you have a moment, it would be very helpful if you could tell us a little more by completing the basic surgery information in your Member Survey. Key details will then automatically appear at the top right of your posts. You can do that by clicking on “Survey—Hyst Type” at the bottom of your screen or visiting your user control panel. Thank you!

We’ll look forward to seeing you over on the dedicated hysterectomy message boards for any support discussions or questions, but hope you'll enjoy local interests and topics unrelated to surgery here in Neighborhoods!

Forgot to add. I had laprascopic hysterectomy. One ovary left in. Took everything else including fallopian tubes. I'm only a few days post opp, very sore, very tired, feel hot and cold (but not reading a temperature). Hoping I feel better soon! It's been rough.

Re: Any 2021 Aussies on the site?

Hi I am also from Melbourne I had the same TAV kept ovaries on 9th February 2021 for very large fibroids. I am 51 y.o single with no children due to career commitments. I must say I have recovered very well. Still get a bit of bloating when I get tired but thats all. Was very optimistic about it all but all of a sudden out of nowhere am experiencing some grief over not having children. Overall though it was the right decision.
