"Weird" feeling in ovaries 10 months post-op (almost like restless leg syndrome) - driving me crazy!

Hi all! I'm new here and not sure I'm even posting in the right forum... but I hope so!
I had a total hysterectomy 12/28/20; I had it done vaginally. Kept my ovaries and tubes. So now about once a month I have been getting this indescribable feeling in my groin, right where my ovaries are. IT DRIVES ME INSANE. I don't have restless leg syndrome, but it's all I can think to compare it to. It's not pain, but it's not a good feeling. If I'm moving or rubbing the area, I'm fine. But to sit/lie down it drives me crazy! I'm wondering if this happens when it "would be" my time of the month. Has anyone else experienced this, and if so - how do I get rid of this feeling!

Restless Ovary Syndrome... is that a thing?!?
Thanks in advance my sisters!

Susan

Re: "Weird" feeling in ovaries 10 months post-op (almost like restless leg syndrome) - driving me crazy!

and

I'm sorry your post got overlooked - I just caught it!

Have you kept a journal of when this happens? It may indeed be tied to your cycle for our ovaries will still function as they normally would even in the absence of a uterus. So it's not pain, but a strange feeling like something inside of you "can't get comfortable"? I occasionally deal with restless legs and know that feeling you're talking about.

My thought is that it's some nerve issue - that part tracks, for nerve issues can take quite a while to fully heal. I had a small area of nerve damage which lingered for 10-1/2 months after my hysterectomy, and I still get stinging / itching on my non-gyn incision from 7 months ago. My guess is that the nerve issue is near where the ovaries are and it's uber-sensitive to ovarian changes during your cycle. <--- I wouldn't take that to the bank, though, for it is truly a guess!

Have you mentioned this to your doctor? I'm also wondering if a referral to a physical therapist might help?

Thank you for the response! Yes, definitely something inside of me "can't get comfortable." I haven't officially kept a journal but I have the "Woman Log" app which always tracked my periods and it pretty much aligns. The nerve issue is interesting as well.

Perhaps I'll have go make a appointment for a check up with my OB/GYN and see if she has any solutions. I can't be the only one, right?

Thanks again for your reply!

have you tried any type of medication to see if it alleviates it? Motrin/tylenol?

I have tried Tylenol, Ibuprophen... nothing alleviates. When I feel it, I just have to MOVE. Or rub/scratch the area. It's odd. Oddest thing I never expected.

That's why I'm thinking it's a nerve issue. If you've ever had one of those annoying nerve twitches, sometimes moving helps - it won't necessarily put a stop to it, but the movement distracts and gives the muscles and nerves something else to do.

Keep us updated - your symptoms and any follow up might help another Sister down the road.
