Re: Grrrrr

I have to say that I agree with everyone on this. Your health is the most important thing right now. A demanding MIL is the last thing that will contribute to a healthy recovery. Family time is family time and if you and your husband decide that staying at home is an option for you then you should never feel guilty. Don't apologize for taking care of yourself. YOU HAVE ONE TIME TO HEAL! Make it count!

Re: Grrrrr

I would stay home, rest, order take out food, let someone else chase after the youngest and ice.

I could handle events until my 6th week, 10 days out I was still pretty much mush and drugged to the max.

Re: Grrrrr

Hi! I have the same problem with my MIL. I refuse to be in the same room alone with her nor will I talk to her on the phone. Thankfully she moved far away from us years ago and we put our marriage back together. You do what you want and what YOU feel like you can do. I am 2 months post-op and I can't imagine having to do Thanksgiving this year.I feel your pain with in-law stuff!
Hugs,
Jeanie

Re: Grrrrr

Thank you everyone!!! I have decided to preorder a turkey dinner from Bob Evans to share with my dh and the girls. They will still have to heat it up, but it comes with instructions. Then he and the girls can go and have dessert with his parents. As for me, I am staying in the house on the couch or in bed. Ya'll are right. Only one time to heal and get it right. His mom will have to get over it. With my side of the family (everyone lives in SC, I live in NY), we are used to dinner at 2pm and then pick at leftovers all night. His mom always does dinner at 4. So it could be that they would be hungry again, but doubtful. They would be hungry for dessert. I think this is the best thing. I should know better than getting upset with his mom as she A) doesn't get it and B) has no idea what exactly I am having done. I don't care to explain it to her. Thank you for getting my head on straight!
