Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Jul 13-Jul 19,2020

If your hysterectomy was between Jul 13-Jul 19,2020 this is the place to post your progress during your hysterectomy recovery.

If you have a question about your hysterectomy recovery, please start a new thread to receive answers and support for your concerns instead of including the question in your update! There is information on how to start a new thread in this link: New Here? or you can use this link: Post a New Topic in the Post-Op forum.

Post how you are doing here when you are home and well enough to sit a few minutes at your computer.

We hope you are recovering well with plenty of rest and water and a bit of walking. Don't forget to pamper the princess!

How to use the Recovery Progress Reports thread:

  • 1. This thread is for the purpose of sharing updates on your recovery as you heal from your hysterectomy.

  • 2. Generally, ONE or TWO posts on this thread per member/per day is adequate to share your daily progress and to share encouragement with your surgery week Sisters.

  • 3. Remember to start a new thread on the Post-Op message board to ask your questions.

  • 4. The Progress Report threads now begin in our special forum for all Hysterectomy Recovery Reports and will remain there for you to always find your discussion.
  • 5. Remember all the love and support you got here as a pre-op member? Now it's YOUR turn to give back to the women in the Pre-Op Hysterectomy Support forum. Extend your hand and your hugs in replies to our pre-op ladies in waiting. This will complete our circle of women helping women!
  • 6. You can also share support and experiences with post-op members in all phases of recovery in the Post-Op Hysterectomy Support forum by replying on the new threads they create.

Welcome to the other side!

This is your recovery thread where you can share notes with other women that have the same surgery week as you. I encourage you to reach out because it helps the healing process feel a little lighter.

I'm your SunshineSister. I'll be here to help with any questions and to let you know my own experiences with this major surgery.

Make these first few weeks really count. Your body needs this time to heal.

*Follow your Dr's orders first and foremost.
*Rest as much as you can without feeling guilty. Your body truly needs this time to heal. (Guilt was my biggest mistake looking back.)
*Don't be afraid to ask for help from family and friends.
*Don't feel bad because your experience is different than someone else's. There are a lot of variables in each situation.
*Drink lots of water
*Walk often to help the healing process

Please know that this is a major surgery and you'll need several months to fully heal. Slow and steady is the way to go.

I wish you a speedy and restful recovery both physically and mentally.

Surgery did not go as planned today. I ended up being the OR for 3 hours. My vaginal hysterectomy was a success and my ovaries left in place. However, I had a lot of scar tissue from my C-Section and as my surgeon worked on me, I got a hole in my bladder. This required emergency abdominal surgery to repair. I will be in the hospital longer now. Pain is not fun right now. Additionally due to the emergency, my surgeon was unable to put the bladder sling in and finish other repairs that need to be done.

Hello. I wanted to say I'm sorry you had some complications. I do hope your pain gets better soon. Hopefully soon some other women with your surgery week will be along to keep you company as you have a few extra days in the hospital. Keep posting and rest well.

Recovery is okay, I’m in worse shape today then yesterday (I guess the anesthesia finally wore off). The pain is manageable and I am sleeping a lot (but sleeping at night is hard for some reason). Not much of an appetite but trying to drink a lot of water. That’s what everyone says, drink a ton of water and take small walks. Are you still in the hospital? I was very happy to get home. I hope you’re home or able to go home soon.

BJN12 and stp82 welcome to the other side. It's a good feeling isn't it that surgery is behind you? These first few days will be emotionally and physically draining. Your body just had major surgery and fatigue is very normal. Right now just concentrate on yourself. Nows the time to set all the worries aside and just rest. Insomnia can also be an issue due to medications or hormone fluctuations, etc.

Totally still in the hospital. My gas and bowels are not moving yet. And I keep throwing out low blood pressures. I’ll get there. Just going to take the.
