Hi HysterSisters,

I’m so glad I found this community as I am schedule for a hysterectomy on august 25th. I have a long history of Pcos . I’ve had endometriosis(went vegetarian then vegan and that went away) had periods that last for months. Now I’m dealing with having absent periods I have maybe 6 periods a year that last 4 to 5 days. In may I got a endocrine biopsy(very traumatizing) because I hadn’t had a period in 3 months and my doctor just wanted to make sure everything was ok. Because I got an ultra sound done and my lining was 32 mm and I had 1 small fibroid. My uterus is 3x the normal size because of all cyst caused by Pcos and I have polyps. My diagnosis was simple hyperplasia with no Atypia. I decided to go with the hysterectomy since I am not a fan of synthetic hormones I tried them in the past and they never gave me periods for a long period of time and really wrecked my system and gained weight. I’m 34 and I would have to take them for another 20 years. I can’t imagine doing that. My doctor agreed if I want a hysterectomy since I have been dealing with this since adolescences and I am refusing hormone treatment, that she saw no problem in doing it, as I’m at higher risk for developing cancerous cells because of the Pcos. In may when I had the biopsy I bleed for 10 days, then in June I had a period and now today august 1st I’m on my period. This is so confusing for me and it’s making me second guess my decision about getting a hysterectomy it’s like the biopsy triggered my periods to come I know it’s only been two periods but it’s making me second guess my decision. Ultimately I do want the hysterectomy I’m so ready to not be worrying about my periods it’s literally been my whole life for the past 20 years I’ve tried everything to heal myself naturally. Sorry for the long post but I have no one to talk to about this. I feel like my uterus knows I’m about to get rid of her so she’s trying to work lol.

Re: Newbie

We're pleased to have you join us!

It's normal to have doubts about whether or not to have the hysterectomy and if you want more information and time to finalize your decision, please post a new thread in the Options and Alternatives forum. You can find helpful information in the Treatment Alternatives resource and an important video about second opinions here: Give Me a Second.

You can use the Pre-Op forum if you know for sure you will have your hysterectomy. Refer to the Pre-Op Page, Checkpoints, Hints From Members, Our “Must Have” List Preparing for Hysterectomy and Our Hysterectomy Stories resources for help, too.

As a side note, your profile shows a surgery date of August 24 but your post said August 25. If you need to change the date in your profile, it can be done using this link: Edit Profile .

Best wishes to you!
