Odd Question

My sister and I were discussing something I cant believe neither of us knew; what do they re attatch your ovaries/fallopian tubes to once your uterus is gone? I feel kind of silly as this is honestly something I dont know. I have my pre op tomorrow; but am almost embarassed to ask..help.

Odd Question

This is a good question to ask your doctor. They don't actually have to reattach anything, because support for the ovaries and fallopian tubes doesn't depend on the uterus. Some surgeons seem to remove the tubes; others leave them in.

Odd Question

Huh! What a good question! I had never even thought of that. I had my tubes tied years ago, and they had cut a section of each tube out and tied off the ends. The ovaries were where they were supposed to be on my last U/S, so I guess, like Tiva said, they must have their own supports separate from the uterus. Let us know what you find out.

Odd Question

I can top that "silly question" (which it's not): I plan to keep my ovaries -- so where does the egg go when it gets made each month? Does the body just re-absorb it? Does this cause problems for the body? (like the body says, "What am I supposed to do with THIS?")

Odd Question

Hi ladies,
I'm now 13 days post-op, and I wondered the same thing; but not until AFTER surgery. As I understand it, the fallopian tubs and ovaries just keep to themselves. (I still have both.) As for where the egg goes, it does just get re-absorbed into the body. Go figure. :-)
Best of luck to you all!!!
