Friday is my day, I'm so nervous

Hello to all, I'm pretty new here. I am only 33 but am having a hyst on Friday the 12th. As each day gets closer I get more and more nervous. It seems silly but the worst part for me is the IVs and getting ready to go into surgery. Also the waking up and not knowing what to expect. They are wanting to try vaginal but not sure until they are in there if it will work. Also not sure if they can save my ovaries or not. Im trying to prepare for the worst just in case.

It's normal to hope for the best but plan for the worst!

Ask if the IV nurse can put an instant hot pack on your arm just a bit before (or bring one yourself!) It makes starting the IV much easier and less painful. Tell the OR nurse you need someone in the recovery room to tell you what is happening when you wake up. Good luck!

I'm 34 and in week 3 of recovery. I think it's natural to be nervous. Hopefully they can do it vaginally but if not you'll be able to handle abdominal. As for the IV's, once you get in there they get that going pretty quick. And you don't even really feel them. Just make sure they put it into the arm that you don't use to write. It makes it a lot easier when you get to your room. Hopefully you will be able to keep your ovaries, I was worried about the same thing...but when I woke up I was happy to find out that I was able to keep them.
