Super Nervous-dVH Tomorrow

I start bowel prep today at noon and have surgery tomorrow and the nerves are working overtime this morning. I'm going to pick up the Mag Citrate this morning and looking for suggestions on flavor and hoping that I can keep myself hydrated enough to not get sick before tomorrow morning. To add upon the fun, I developed a massive migraine last night (bad thunderstorms and nerves) and can only take tylenol for it (and it just aint cutting it!!!). Thanks for letting me vent and good luck to all of us!

Re: Super Nervous-dVH Tomorrow

I didn't have to do Mag Citrate before my surgery (I had an enema), but I have seen where others here recommend the lemon lime and to chill it so it's REALLY cold. It's easier to chug down if it's really cold.

Hang in there, Hon. I look forward to seeing your posts on the Post-Op threads!

Re: Super Nervous-dVH Tomorrow

i also mentioned this on another thread. i had seen previously that someone suggested if you use a bendy straw and place it at the back of your throat you wont taste the citrate so much. the straw helps it avoid your tongue and just goes down your throat. see is that helps. id alread had my hyster when i read that info.
good luck.

Re: Super Nervous-dVH Tomorrow

Drinking the grape flavored as I type this. It honestly tastes like watered down salty kool-aid. blech! Fighting through it, chasing every sip with Sprite...and praying to get these two bottles down as quickly as possible. The straw helps a little, but not as much as I hoped.

Re: Super Nervous-dVH Tomorrow

I had my dvH along with bladder repair/suspension with mesh on 10/25. I know the prep is horrible! I had to drink that same thing for a colonoscopy. For this procedure I had to drink Miralax for 3 days and then do an enema before surgery. Keep in mind that this is the best thing you can do for yourself right now!!! You will probably not be able to have a BM right after surgery - it took me 4 days - so the fact that you're starting out "lighter" is really a good thing!

Looking forward to seeing your posts on post-op!

Re: Super Nervous-dVH Tomorrow

I too have my surgery tomorrow morning. Supracervical with rectocele and cystocele repairs. I didn't have to do a bowel prep except stay on a liquid diet today and do an enema tonight. I know what it is like though since I had a colonoscopy last month. What I did was mix the nulytely solution with the cherry flavor packet and then added crystal lite packets. It wasn't bad! Anyway I am really nervous about tomorrow and am sure I won't sleep. I'll post when I can post-op.
