soooo nervous!

Hello I'm new here! I have been reading through post and have finally decided to post one of my own! I am 25 and unfortunately it wasn't in the cards for me to have children on my own I am however blessed with a step daughter after one excision surgery a year for 3 years and a 7 month cycle of Lupron in addition to years of birth control and several "endo diets" my hubby doctors have convinced me to go for the tlh leaving one ovary(hopefully) that will take place sept 17!!!!! I am really freaked out at this point! After 5 second opinions I do believe this is what's best but the not knowing what's going to come after is making me crazy! Oddly enough I feel exhausted and drained since making the decision. I am a hairstylist so am also concerned with recovery time... is it longer than with my past surgeries? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated xoxo

Re: soooo nervous!

I am having mine on 9/18/13 Davinci (robotic assisted lapraoscopy) and I was told recovery time depends on the person but usually 2-3 weeks for most patients. I'm 35 and been dealing with endo, fibroids, large cysts and can understand how overwhelming all this is.

Re: soooo nervous!

Hello
I am 10 days post op and had an lavh. It is very normal to feel anxious, and I really think the waiting is the worst part. Creating to do list to prepare for surgery, website has a great check list. Keeping busy with your family and friends.
Each person heals differently so it is hard to say how long your recovery will take. Your Dr will give you a general feel once they know your profession. Just remember the recovery may take time, but it is key to the shortest route to not have set backs and to be healthy in the long run.
Best wishes

Re: soooo nervous!

Part of your recovery will depend on if and how your surgeon cleans up the endometriosis, how extensive the scar tissue, which organs are involved, and how your body reacts. Are you seeing an endometriosis specialist? Will your surgeon use an excision method to clean up the implants? Are you aware that a hysterectomy is not a cure for endometriosis?
