My surgery date keeps changing and it's stressing me out!

Just in the past 24 hours my surgery date changed twice. That makes three changes thus far and it's totally messing with my head. The first date was 12/14, then 11/11, then 11/13 and now they are saying 11/5. But it's not confirmed yet, hopefully I'll know on Monday.

I believe in "signs" and I'm wondering since it seems too complicated to schedule, should I postpone for a while longer? I'm really not mentally prepared for my TLH/BO so soon. I just about burst out crying tonight at dinner at a restaurant.

I'm guessing that questioning whether you're doing the right thing is normal; but how do you get to the point of acceptance? I keep waffling between do it and then don't it and that's driving me crazy.

Re: My surgery date keeps changing and it's stressing me out!

Hi LoveVettes -

All of your emotions, feelings and anxiety are very normal. This is such a difficult surgery to digest and process. I several times before my surgery, and many more times after.

Having your surgery date keep changing would drive anyone crazy. It would make focusing and planning, emotionally and practically, difficult.

Having second thoughts is normal. I had a major freakout about 4 days before my surgery. But having serious doubts is another. You can get other opinions on your condition to see if you have other options. As long as it does not endanger your health, you can cancel.

You need to make the right decision for you. We will support you.

Re: My surgery date keeps changing and it's stressing me out!

It all depends on why you are doing it and what your diagnosis/prognosis is.

For me not having one will just prolong the inevitable. I am not mentally ready for it though and i expect to be super emotional after.

You need to do what is right for you.
