Lupron shot tomorrow

Tomorrow morning I go and get my Lupron shot. I don't know if this is normal or not, but I feel really scared and depressed right now. I know that after I have this shot, my body will no longer function as I am used to, even though it is a roller coaster ride most of the time. About 30 days after this shot, I have the surgery, and then things will really change. I just feel like me is dying and shortly I will be someone different. What if I can't deal with her? Even though I have heard it takes about 10 days for this shot to really shut down my ovaries, I feel like tomorrow will be the beginning of the death of my real self. I don't want to stop this process and the ultimate surgery, but it surely is a lot to handle mentally.

Lupron shot tomorrow

Just a note from one who's been there...

I had two Lupron shots. Almost immediately after the first one I felt better. I had been having hot flashes etc for a few years already - the Lupron actually balanced me out. That may not be the usual reaction, but I found it was a good indication of how I'd feel post hyst since my fibroids were shrinking and I no longer had back pain and bladder pressure (with constant need to pee.)

So, it could be ok!

Lupron shot tomorrow

I had one shot that lasted for 3 months. I had my hyster on 9/14 and if I had to take that shot again - I WOULD NOT HESITATE. It actually made my life better. I took the shot to shrink fibroids so I could have a bikini incision for my fibroids. Guess what - I got the bikini incision.

The hot flashes were mild considering how much I did not want a verticle incision on my stomache. I don't remember my symptoms starting right away. If your surgery is in 30 days you might not even experience the symptoms.

I have never looked at it as taking away my real self - I looked at it as getting my old self back that was taken away from me by the pressure and pain of the fibroid.

I wish you luck.

Lupron shot tomorrow

Hi Bev,

I had my first Lupron shot 9/27 & haven't felt anything yet. I felt the same way, that all the sudden I would be a stranger to myself.
