Upcoming hysterectomy 07/16: previous ablation and tubal

Hi guys I'm new to hyster sisters. I have pcos. Have had ovarian drilling, ablation, and tubal. My last surgery was soooo painful and I have high pain tolerance so i am becoming very terrified of the post surgery pain with hysterectomy. But I have post ablation tubal ligation syndrome with cyclic pain and need this done. Anyone having surgery soon that is finding ways to de stress?

Re: Sch 07/16 previous ablation and tubal

Hi Niknak333 to HysterSisters!

I am sorry you are dealing with all of this, but glad you found this site.

Here is an article that may provide information on Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome/Disorder (PCOS).

Pain after surgery is different for everyone, with some women experiencing little to no pain while others experience high levels of pain. You will not know until you are there. They will ask you when you wake up how much pain you are in. You tell them, and they will give you pain meds to match.

For stress, it helps to keep yourself very busy. Exercise also helps. Here is an article: Coping with Anxiety and Fear before Hysterectomy.

Just know that you are not alone in this. We will be by your side throughout this process.

Re: Sch 07/16 previous ablation and tubal

Thank you for the warm welcome. I feel like I have a leg up since my best friend is my surgical tech. Also last surgery when I woke up in pain I held my breath and when my oxygen dipped they wouldn't give pain meds but if they would have just given me meds I would have been breathing better. Different doctor and hospital this time though so hoping itll be different.

I'm sorry you've had so much pain with previous procedures. I hope this time will be much better and you will have a doctor who will better manage your pain!

Re: Upcoming hysterectomy 07/16: previous ablation and tubal

I remember how in the weeks leading up to my surgery, my anxiety levels were off the charts, because I'd never had anything like this, and I had no idea what to expect. This site was a godsend, because it told me what I needed to know, in a simple "been there, done that" format. Spending some time on my cooking during those last few weeks also helped to calm my nerves, and it gave me a month's supply of frozen meals, so I wouldn't have to worry about that during my recovery. I also do regular exercise, which includes yoga; during the current situation, you can easily find classes on YouTube or other online platforms. From the time I arrived at the hospital until I was released the next morning, my surgeon and his team did everything they could do to put me at ease, and they left me feeling like I was in good hands, as I'm hoping you'll feel from your surgical team. Wishing you all the best for a successful surgery and a smooth recovery!

Upcoming hysterectomy 07/16: previous ablation and tubal

I’ve had fun activities planned, mani/pedi, waxing, and spending times with close friends and family. I also completed projects around the house that I wanted to have done. I’m down to the last three days before surgery and honestly I’m starting to feel the emotions as I am now on mandatory quarantine until surgery.
Keep busy and try to focus on other things.

Be cautious of mani/pedi as well as shaving and waxing. Sometimes polish is not allowed - it was not with me. I could not shave or wax either. So, please check with your doctor about your restrictions.

My best friend is my surgical tech she told me to shave as close to surgery as I could so I guess I'll take a long hot bath and shave night before. Quarantine I bet is tough then all you can do is sit and think up terrible scenarios at least for me
