Novasure didn't work - what about Yaz?

I had an EA done this past August. I continued to get my periods, and they have become long in duration again (last one was 21 days- with a total the previous month of 1 week of not bleeding) I talked to my GYN and he suggested doing TAH, but since I'm not quite ready to jump onto the Hysterectomy bandwagon, he wanted me to try YAZ BCP. I was wondering how many of you tried this and how effective it was. I've had children, endometreosis was lasered out about 10 years ago - without any recurrence, and the D & C and ablation. I'm 46 years old, and concerned about depression, weight gain, etc from YAZ. Thanks so much for your help - I really appreciate all thoughts and opinions on this.

Novasure didn't work - what about Yaz?

I also tried the Novasure procedure in Aug. of 06, without success. I am the only person I have heard of having this done unsuccessfully! Before the Novasure procedure, I had tried several types of birth control pills, Depo-Provera, Mirena IUD, even non-hormonal birth control methods (diaphragm), and the only thing out there that would control my bleeding was NuvaRing. My suggestion- if you're not ready for a hysterectomy, try all your options! Give Yaz a try for a few months, and if that doesn't work, try NuvaRing. In my situation, I no longer need birth control, have already had an ablation with no success, I'm ready for my TAH. Good luck!

Novasure didn't work - what about Yaz?

My younger sister loved Yaz. Her cycles were helped by it and her skin was very nice on it. (An added bonus.) Unfortunately, her neurologist and gyn had her stop taking any systemic hormones because of some serious migraine trouble. She was recommended to try the Mirena sytem instead, and she is doing well on that too.

Hope you find something that works for you.

Novasure didn't work - what about Yaz?

I did the Novasure procedure and it failed for me. During the months upon waiting for my surgery date, my doctor tried me on Yaz and I had break through bleed throughout the month. So for me, nothing other then having a hysterectomy helped with my heavy bleeding and cramps. Wish you luck with your choices.

Ladies, thanks so much for your responses. I'm still on the fence as far as starting Yaz - just hate the thought of taking BCP at my age and having the side effects. Hmmmm....maybe I'll give it another month. Thanks for your responses.

NovaSure

I had the NovaSure procedure done approx. 6 months ago in my physicians office. I had some light spotting the first 2 months post procedure and no bleeding since. I am thrilled with the outcome. All my friends that have had the NovaSure done are loving it as well. My doctor told me that the NovaSure is 97% successful in reducing or completely eliminating periods. It sounds like a few of you may have fallen into the 3% category that have other underlying conditions which eventually will require a hysterectomy. Best of luck.

Novasure didn't work - what about Yaz?

I didn't have NovaSure, but I had an EA that failed after 4 months. I was 41 and my doctor let me try Yaz, although it was more my idea than it was his. After I read the insert, I had second thoughts about taking it at my age. Somehow the age-related complications weighed heavy on my mind. I only lasted on it for 2 days because I started breaking out in a rash (allergic reaction), so that was the end of that. I did end up having a hysterectomy 6 months after the EA.

Not to scare you, but... I have to say that's what I thought also. I had endo lasered out 10 years ago and no other endo treatments after that. I went through a laparoscopic surgery, D&C, hysteroscopy, and ablation last May. No mention of endo being seen, so I thought it was gone for good. Six months later at the time of my hysterectomy, they found endometrial implants.

Novasure didn't work - what about Yaz?

Well, I tried Yaz for a few months and to put it lightly I wasn't exactly the nicest lady in my house lol. I phoned my gyno and informed him they were being tossed into the round file! My periods have gone back to being somewhat "normal", with my last one just being a few days ago and only lasting a few days. I'm not in a big hurry to have a hysterectomy since I'm not having the severe bleeding issues that I've had in the past. Maybe I'll be lucky enough to get thru menopause without the hysterectomy (crossing my fingers & toes on that one) I haven't had any signs of endo since it was lasered out, and I'm not really concerned about it at this point, but if I was having as much discomfort as I was before, I'd be waving buh-bye to my uterus ;-)

Novasure didn't work - what about Yaz?

I had my Novasure done 8/30/07 with no luck. I bleed the same as before and maybe even a little heavier. Still had heavy periods with bleeding on and off between periods. I go to the castle on 2/7.
