3rd opinion recommends birth control pill (no hyst)

Can this really be possible? My ER doctor told me in May and June that I needed a hysterectomy because of a "very large fibroid and enlarged uterus" which caused heavy continuous bleeding and severe anemia. Because of a switch in insurance companies I waited. I saw a nurse practitioner in July and she confirmed this. I had my appointment with the OB/GYN this week and she said I don't need surgery. I have a choice of using bcp or the Mirena IUD. I asked her about the size of my fibroid and she said it is "3 inches" which is "considered small." I asked her if my uterus was enlarged and she said "slightly." I'm definitely praising God and thanking everyone for their prayers. Everyone has been praying for, "No surgery." It just seems like such a simple solution (the bcp). If I hadn't of had a change in insurance I might be in recovery from a TAH/BSO right now. Has this happened to anyone else?

I know people who use BCPs and others who have used IUDs and they have been very sucessful. If that works for you GO FOR IT!

It is a much easier alternative, and hopefully it will work for you! It can't hurt to give it a try.
