Re: Uterine biopsy and ultrasound before?

I had an internal ultrasound (ended up having a hard time finding an ovary so they had to do abdominal too.), and biopsy in the same day.

My uterus is very tender, so the ultrasound was not fun. The biopsy was not as bad as I thought it would be. Some spotting and cramping afterwards (I'm kind of used to that all the time now). I had both done in the morning and returned to work for that afternoon. I did take ibuprofen before my appointment, and every 6 hours for the next day (doctor instructed me to do this).

My gyno explained they like to test the lining of the uterus before doing anything to it. They need to make sure it's not cancerous. If you are planning an ablation your uterine lining will be destroyed so it will be hard for them to detect cancerous cells later. If you are having a hyst, they will know to take your uterus out in one piece and not cut it up for removal. I hope this helps!!

Re: Uterine biopsy and ultrasound before?

I had a pelvic ultrasounds and a biopsy at my last dr appt. Hurt like hell for about 3 seconds, had to hold my breath. The cramping is immediate so be prepared for that. Also, bring pads with you, as you do bleed a bit. Definitely take a pain reliever ahead of time.

I also had both tests done before the hysterectomy. I also would make sure you take the ibuprofen before. (personally I don't know if it helped or not....I am not a fan of the biopsy at all)....I drove myself but I was a little light headed afterwards this time....I had my first biopsy the year before....
