AHHH everything is going so fast

Hello All, I am pretty new to this sight but wanted to thank everyone for sharing. I have done alot of reading for the past week since my PCP suggested a hyst would be my next step. All the words of wisdom helped today while I was at the Gynos office. He said yes I needed surgery and we would do it Monday morning the 27th. Because of this site, I was able to make a more informed decision and it eased my shock of such a quick surgery date. I will be having a TVH with BSO and TVT. Dr said that my uteris will not come down enough so, there is a possiblity of a TAH. I think I am ready for the surgery, I just need to get over my panic attack of getting everything done before hand. WOW what a stressfull day. Thanks for listening to me ramble. It helps to get it all out. I really just wanted to thank you all for sharing and making it easier on the rest of us.

Hi quietone,

I have the same surgery date. Am having TAH. I am worried about surgery because I have never been "cut open". I know we will get thru though. The women on this site are amazing. Good luck to you. I'll be with you on the 27th!

First of all , Welcome !!! We are glad to have you here. I am glad you did some research and felt prepared for the docs office and his suggestion. Don't panic about trying to get everything done. Make a list, since you probably aren't thinking too well right now. One thing that I do suggest: prepare some meals and freeze them so all you have to do is put them in the microwave. make sure that your toilet and bathtub/shower are scrubbed clean, it will be awhile before you can clean them again.
For about 2 weeks, you should not be doing anything around the house, cleaning, dishes, laundry etc.
You should be drinking plenty of water, resting walking around the house, napping and resting some more. Pamper yourself, get some magazine and books to read at home. You want to take care of yourself so that you don't undo what has been done. I wish you the best and will be sending prayers to you, your family and the doc who will be performing the surgery. Please check in when you feel up to it and enjoy your Christmas!

Ginger...welcome to the site and we are glad you found us. You are right, the women here on all the boards are wonderful people. I know you are scared about having the abdominal hyst...you are justified in your fears and it will be a hard recovery. You can make it easier on yourself if you do what I posted quietone to do and what not to do and how to prepare the house. Remember there are a lot of boards on this site with wonderful topics, not neccesarily to do with a hyst..utilize this site..it has a lot of info on it. Please let us know how you are doing once you feel up to getting on the computer again. I will be praying for you and your family as well as the doc performing the surgery. Take care and enjoy your Christmas. I will be thinking about both of you!

Thank You and Ginger, I too will say a prayer for you on our surgery date. I feel better. I got things at work taken care of and most of the home stuff will be ok. DH is here to help me out. Now I just have the nervous pit in my stomach. It will be along weekend. I hope you all have a Merry Christmas. I will let you know how surgery goes. God Bless, Niki
