Reminder today of why I am doing this

So, for five weeks now, since I had the essure procedure done, I have been bleeding and cramping, but within the last week or so it eased up, and I started thinking, do I really need to do this? Then, yesterday at me preop appointment, I started getting horrible cramping and woke up again today wiht quite a bit of bleeding, and I thought to myself "oh yeah, now I remember why I am doing this." I am excited to get it over with, but very scared at the same time. In the back of my head I keep thinkng that something horrible is going to happen and I will wish that I could just go back to the cramping and bleeding. I hope nothing goes wrong. I hope, most of all, that I don't end up with incontinence (I heard this can happen if the cervix is removed) because I don't want to pee in my pants the rest of my life, and I also hope to keep continuing to enjoy sex, because if that went away, life wouldn't just be all that great.

Re: Reminder today of why I am doing this

I had quite a few of those 'now I remember why I'm doing this' moments. I felt the same way. Excited to get it done but so scared! Please know you aren't the only one.

If it makes you feel better, I can say that in my own personal experience, after 6 years, I have no incontinence isses or intimacy issues since having my cervix removed. Remember, it doesn't happen to everyone. I hope everything goes well for you. I'll be sending good thoughts!

I have those moments as well. I will go and not be bleeding and think I am fine even though I know there are bad cells in there and then I will start bleeding 3 weeks straight. So you are not alone in how you are feeling. HUGS!

I can't tell you how many times during the past 5 years that I've thought I could just deal with my situation. Then I'm dealt a whammy which makes me happy that I'm getting rid of my pesky uterus!

Re: Reminder today of why I am doing this

I understand how you feel. When you're cramping and bleeding all over yourself you can't wait for surgery, but when you feel somewhat good you wonder about your choice. My preop pelvic exam pretty much sealed the deal for me. I felt violated and cramped and bled after. Yes, I'm doing the right thing. It's probably going to hurt for awhile and I won't be 100 percent but in the long run, it's going to make my life better.
