Lupron isn't working. Beyond frustrated.

A little history...

I've had issues with my cycles since before I even began having them! I've been diagnosed with PMDD in the past. I had my gallbladder out May 2009 and started bleeding shortly after and didn't stop for five months when I was referred to a specialist. She gave me progestin and after 14 days of it, the period stopped. They put me on different birth controls and I still kept having periods, even with the depo shot. I had severe cramps even without bleeding, so a laparoscopy was ordered. I had a lot of complications with that and basically the OBGYN told me I'd not be having anymore laparscopic surgeries because I couldn't handle being inverted and I stopped breathing during the procedure. Fun stuff!

After the laparoscopy in April 2010, I bled for another three straight before the specialist decided to put me on the Lupron, one month shots..the 3.75mg ones. Those helped the bleeding stop. The side effects were awful. The first week and a half I was miserable. The second two weeks I never felt better. And then the last week/week and a half I went nuts because who knows why. But once I got the shot it'd start all over again. So I'd get two weeks of relief in there...which was a nice break!

In October 8th I got the 3 month lupron shot because we were having the success with the bleeding stopping. About November 1st, I started cramping again. Three days ago I started bleeding...again. Not just spotting either. I am SO frustrated. I'm in pain all the time. I'm about to lose my job because I am missing too much work with the mood imbalance and the pain.

I have an appointment already scheduled for the beginning of December, but I don't know that I'll get the answers I want. So far the OBGYN has been hesitant to discuss a hysterectomy with me. I just want the pain and the mood swings to stop. I feel awful. I just want to feel okay!

Has anyone else had any experience with Lupron? Did it work? If it didn't, what was the next step your doctor took?

Re: Lupron isn't working. Beyond frustrated.

I had 3 months of Lupron 3.75 and 1 month of Lupron 7.5 and nothing. My next step was to get a Hyster done. Had mine on Oct 21.

Welp I ended up losing my job. On to the doctor December 1st. I hope she has some ideas to make this stop. I'm so frustrated and can't take much more.

Re: Lupron isn't working. Beyond frustrated.

Lupron gave me horrible side effects the first 3 months and I only got one good month of pain relief out of the 6 month course. I ended up with high cholesterol as well. I wish I'd just gone ahead with the hysterectomy and endometriosis excision.

So sorry you lost your job.
Have you been for a second opinion?
Your body is telling you it's time for help-maybe a different Dr. can give you more options. Many of the ladies here have suffered and struggled with trying different treatments. Good luck seeking your solution.
Sending happy hopeful thoughts your way.

Re: Lupron isn't working. Beyond frustrated.

Thank you for all the responses! I do have an appointment this week and do think I'll be seeking a second opinion. This is just beyond ridiculous, not to mention I'm exhausted! Thanks for the ideas and the feedback about your own experiences.
